Alert rules and Actions - You can create an alert rule that will generate timely notifications of critical events that require immediate attention. To ensure effective alert notification, you need to develop an alert strategy by doing the following:

• Identify which applications are critical to your business or service. 
• Identify which departments have mission-critical applications running on their systems.
• Identify which alert types are most important and identify the risk level of the alert condition.
• Identify what response is required to resolve specific alerts. If no response can be identified for a condition, the event does not require a real-time alert.
• Identify who is responsible for responding to the alert.
• Establish and publish guidelines for alert rule creation.
• Determine who is responsible for new alert rules creation.

Note: An end user must have the Manage Alerts permission to create or edit an alert rule.

Alerts are grouped into types in the Alert Rules Wizard and the descriptions of each alert rule and parameter set is provided. Parameters for these alerts can be edited. The types of alerts are:

• Application alerts
• System alerts
• Network alerts
• XenApp performance alerts
• XenApp error alerts
• Session performance alerts
• XenDesktop error alerts

EdgeSight Licensing for XenApp Agents
EdgeSight Advanced - Included with the Platinum editions of XenDesktop or XenApp
EdgeSight Basic - Included with the Enterprise editions of XenDesktop or XenApp
EdgeSight Licensing for Endpoint Agents - A separate license file is required for Citrix EdgeSight for Endpoints. The Enterprise and Platinum editions of XenDesktop and XenApp do not include the necessary licenses.
