IPAM - IP address management - New in Server 2012 (eases mgmt of DHCP, DNS, DC and NPS)
Core focuses:
- planning - no more Excel tracking spreasheets
- managing - no more utilisation guesswork
- tracking - no more forecasting guesswork
- auditing - no more worry about compliance

Deployment Topologies:
- Distributed - IPAM server in every AD site
- Centralised - One IPAM server per forest
- Hybrid - Central IPAM + distributed IPAM

Limitations:
- works only with Windows TCP/IP services
- dc cannot be an IPAM server (MS recommends to have dedicated server)
- does not support multiple forests
- has no replication capability
- limited support for IPv6
- can only use WID - Windows internal database
- 3 years of data (leases, MACs, user login/out) for 100,000 users / no purge policy or mechanism

Setup procedure: IP Address Management (IPAM) Deployment Guide
